In a prior post links to low carb diet and bad breath where found. So how can you slim down with out the bad breath side effects? Here are some tips in combating halitosis.
1) Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. By drinking water you help to dilute the concentration of ketones. Also by drinking water it can help to cleanse teeth of excess bacteria and food debris. Bad breath can sometimes be caused by food particles caught in the teeth, and drinking water will help rinse away odor-causing particles.
2) Chewing gum. Chewing Sugarless gum with xylitol after meals can help keep bad breath away. Your saliva production increases during chewing and this can help neutralize acid production and rinse food particles from the mouth. Sugar-free gum with xylitol can also help prevent cavities. Xylitol is a natural sweetener found in plants and fruits, and research shows it inhibits the growth of Streptococcus mutans, the oral bacteria that cause cavities.
3) Maintain good dental habits. Brushinand flossing at least twice a day will not only keep your mouth healthy but will prevent odors. Cleaning the tongue with a toothbrush or tongue scraper after meals can also help alleviate odors.
4) Seeing a dentist regularly. It is important in your overall oral and dental health to keep your dental appointments. See a dentist at least twice a year more if advised by a dentist. If your halitosis continues a general dentist or doctor can help determine the source of the odor.
